An opportunity for you
Hello PG, I have been a listener for a long time and a premium member from the beginning. Let me talk you about me. I am a higher education coordinator at a community college in Dallas. My biggest responsibility is helping to manage the 7 campus SGA chapters. With that in mind, I have to organize different leadership conferences for the 80+ student leaders that represent the 80k from the college. My ask is this.... do you ever do speaking engagements? If you do, what is your charge and can you do something specifically about how the SGA is a parallel to the government and the atrength and power that these leaders have. I am doing a training at the end of September and anything from you (recorded would be great) could really make an impact. Just your story of moving to the US is inspired . Hi Leigh, Glad you are doing what you do. You bring real insight and the people who know to the table… Much appreciated and I learn something new every week..! As I say, I reserve the right to get smarter, and you help that along the way. BTW, I am also a Canadian from New Brunswick. Now living on an island north of Seattle. I had an idea several months ago and figured if I came up with the idea, someone smarter would have already thought of it. But I have also learned in my field that that is more often not the case. So here is the idea / question… If we (meaning if I have heard you and your guests correctly) say there are two key factors to turning things around or getting back on the right track, are; Get every eligible voter out to vote. Regardless of affiliation. Putting money in the hands of the lower 95% will do more to stimulate the economy than putting the same amount in the hands of the top 5%. So, would it be possible for the executive branch to authorize a $1,000 tax rebate for every vote cast..? Or at a minimum, put it on the table so the House says “no way” and you have them on record. If possible, most would see this has a refund that they would get in early 2025, and my guess is it would help those individual families as well as the economy. My guess..(?) So, the math… Say there is 230 million eligible voters and 200 million vote, hence getting a tax credit. And significantly getting the vote percentage up. That is a $200 billion assist to citizens and a boost to the economy, bottom up not top down. If this got put in place to happen for Federal elections every 2 years, I think you would have a win / win… I know your circle has way more knowledge and influence than my circle, so thought I would place it in your circle.
